Safety Notice – Keeping Safe

Whilst inside the resort we enjoy a very safe environment. Thanks to our active and passive security measures the crime rate is very low and by working together we hope to keep it that way. There is an abundance of advice provided on the community website: www.mmgr.info (from the home page enter security in the search bar and follow the listings provided).

Occasionally however the unexpected can happen and those who perpetrate crime, commit violence and anti-social behaviour, seek out the vulnerable. Especially when away from the resort we recommend you follow the points below. These may help you to avoid becoming a victim of such crimes.

– Don’t walk or jog early in the morning or late at night when the streets are deserted.

– When out at night, try to have a friend walk with you.

– Carry only the money you’ll need on a particular day and don’t carry any unnecessary bank/credit cards.

–  Always make sure your passport or identity card is secure.

– Be aware of being distracted enabling a crime partner to make the theft of an item/s, especially at airports, marketplaces, and other busy places.

– If you think you are being targeted, switch directions or cross the street. If the person continues to follow you, move quickly toward an open store or restaurant or a lighted house. Don’t be afraid to yell for help.

– Be particularly vigilant when drawing cash from an ATM.

– Try to park in well-lighted areas with good visibility and close to walkways, stores, and people.

– Make sure you have your key out as you approach your car door or accommodation.

– Always lock your car, even if it’s in your own driveway; never leave your motor running.

–  Avoid leaving valuable items on display in your car.

– Do everything you can to keep a stranger from getting into your car or to keep a stranger from forcing you into his or her car.

– If a dating partner has abused you, do not meet him or her alone. Do not let him or her in your home or car when you are alone.

– Always be mindful of leaving your drinks unguarded, thereby avoiding the opportunity for someone to tamper with them.

– If someone tries to rob you, it’s best to give up your property, instead of risking injury.

– If confronted, try to deescalate any situation to becoming a violent one. Take a mental note of the attacker so you can describe them to the police. As well as general features look for any distinguishing marks, tattoos, language, colour and markings on clothing etc.

– If you are robbed or assaulted, report the crime to the police. Try to describe the attacker accurately. Your actions can help prevent someone else from becoming a victim.

– Helpful contact numbers are available on the Community Website www.mmgr.info (from the home page search for helpful contact numbers).

THE CHANCE OF YOU BECOMING A VICTIM IS EXTREMELY LOW, BUT ITS ALWAYS BEST TO BE PREPARED.
